about the author

Born in the sixties in the North East of England, Cath Wren wrote prolifically when young, encouraged by her parents and English teacher in both her artistic and literary abilities. She abandoned everything in her late teens and went to work in the finance industry. Cath recently returned to her creative writing and illustration and is loving it. She has a husband, two grown up children and has always been inspired by the works of Beatrix Potter.

about the book

The inquisitive Fred goes out to find food for his increasingly large family, but he gets more than he bargained for when he has a 'close encounter' with a 'big person'. The world can be such a scary place, especially when you are only 'mouse size'.A light-hearted story with a warm-hearted look at some issues raised during the pandemic with younger readers in mind, with slightly quirky watercolour and ink illustrations. Ideal as a read-aloud bedtime story.
